Big Marsh Walk. Come join the Evanston North Shore Bird Club and the Chicago Ornithological Society at one of the most exciting habitat restoration projects in Chicagoland!  Big Marsh is breeding habitat to numerous important marsh bird species including Sora, Virginia Rail, Swamp Sparrow, Marsh Wren, and Common Gallinule. Depending on water levels, Big Marsh can also host a variety of shorebirds and other frequent wetland visitors like American White Pelican.  The walk will begin in the parking lot, adjacent to the new park center building. The walk will be entirely on crushed gravel or paved surfaces, so access is very favorable. Typically, walks at Big Marsh last about 2.5 hours and cover 2-3 miles. If you're unable to join for the entire walk, please feel free to leave whenever you'd like. If you need binoculars, please contact the walk leader ahead of time so a loaner pair can be arranged. Bathroom facilities open at 8:00am.

Meet at 7 am in the parking lot (directions to come).  Registration required by contacting libbyhill@comcast.net.  Carpooling is encouraged!  Leader: Carl Giometti
